This is the second piece in our Graveyard Statue range from Novaminis, and it is a striking centrepiece for any dark or necromantic encounter. The figure depicts a towering, robed skeletal deity — face little more than a skull beneath a deep cowl — raising a caged lantern in one hand and clutching a heavy ritual staff in the other. Sweeping curved horns rise from its back like the wings of some ancient, malevolent god of death, lined with jagged spines that speak to something far older and crueller than a simple grave marker. The whole piece sits atop a cracked stone plinth inscribed with a circular seal, skulls visible at the figure's feet.
As scatter terrain, it serves equally well as a decorative cemetery monument, a puzzle element, an animated statue encounter, or a representation of a divine idol in a death-cult's sanctum. As a display piece, the sculpt has the depth and drama to hold its own on any collector's shelf — the lantern's cage detail and the texture of the weathered robes reward a close painting session. This is the kind of piece that makes players stop and take a photo of the table.
A great choice for adventurers who:
- Need evocative graveyard or cemetery scatter terrain for D&D, Pathfinder, or other TTRPGs
- Are building a Ravenloft, Curse of Strahd, or undead-themed campaign setting
- Want an animated statue encounter piece with genuine visual menace
- Collect dark fantasy miniatures for display or diorama projects
- Are DMs who want their locations to do some of the storytelling for them
Encounter Hook:
The village elders swore the statue at the crossroads was a protective ward — the Watcher with the Lantern, they called it. But three nights ago it turned to face the old burial mound to the north, and since then no one has slept soundly. When the party arrives, the lantern is lit from within by a pale green flame, and the seal on the plinth has begun to crack.
Details
Printed at 32mm scale. Available with or without a plain black round base — the base is supplied unattached and can be fixed with a small amount of glue. The detail on this sculpt is well-suited to dry-brushing and ink washes; it also looks distinctive straight off the build plate as an unpainted terrain piece.
