Grandfather Clock by Mia Kay M3DM
Description
Somewhere in the wizard's tower, a grandfather clock ticks with impossible precision — its exposed gears turning without any winding mechanism the party can identify.

- ✔ Supplied unpainted — primes and paints easily
- ✔ Compatible with standard 28mm–32mm miniature scales
- ✔ Works on the gaming table and as part of a display diorama
This ornate grandfather clock terrain piece is a masterclass in baroque fantasy design. The clock face is framed by interlocking cogs and gears, while the tall case is adorned with decorative scrollwork, bead-moulded borders, and a fleur-de-lis crown that would look at home in a noble's study or a time-warped dungeon chamber. A visible pendulum mechanism runs through the glass-fronted lower section, surrounded by more exposed clockwork. It reads equally well as arcane curiosity, aristocratic furnishing, or a Ravenloft-ready prop with a sinister secret ticking inside.
At 32mm scale, this piece has genuine presence on the table without overwhelming the surrounding terrain. It works beautifully as a focal point in mansion encounters, a suspicious object in a wizard's laboratory, or a centrepiece prop in a steampunk or gothic setting. Just as rewarding for display collectors who want a characterful piece to paint with washes and metallics.
Perfect for adventurers who:
- Are building an aristocratic manor, wizard's study, or clock tower encounter
- Want a gothic or steampunk scatter piece with genuine sculpted detail
- Are painting a diorama and need a tall, architectural focal object
- Run Ravenloft, Strahd, or any campaign where time itself is a theme
- Collect atmospheric terrain pieces for display as well as gaming
Encounter Hook:
The party has been hired to retrieve a stolen heirloom from the estate of the late artificer Valdren Mourne. Every clock in the house has stopped — except one. As they enter the drawing room, the grandfather clock in the corner chimes thirteen, and a hollow compartment clicks open in its base, revealing a folded letter addressed to whoever finds it first. The artificer, it seems, anticipated exactly this situation.
