Description

Even the ammunition is consecrated to dark gods here — a reinforced crate bound in iron, draped in tattered shrouds, and crowned with guttering candles whose wax has long since dripped into scripture.

  • ✔ Resin terrain piece, printed fresh to order in the UK
  • ✔ Supplied unpainted — primes and paints easily
  • ✔ Compatible with standard 28mm–32mm miniature scales
  • ✔ Works on the gaming table and as part of a display diorama

This Gothic Ammo Crate is a richly detailed scatter terrain piece that blends dark ecclesiastical styling with heavy military ironwork. The front face bears two skull medallions set into circular iron fittings — one larger, one smaller — both surrounded by radiating ridged plating that gives the impression of armoured reinforcement. Tattered cloth hangs from the crate's sides in weathered strips, and the corners are reinforced with thick rope coiling and layered metal bands. The top surface is scattered with candles of varying heights, their wax mid-drip, lending the whole piece an altar-like quality. Books or stacked parchment are just visible between the candles, suggesting these munitions are as much ritualistic as they are practical.

The sculpt packs extraordinary surface detail into a compact footprint. Every surface tells a story — from the stacked ridged banding that suggests layered plating, to the riveted side panels and the carefully rendered rope texture. Painted up, this piece would suit everything from the hive-forges of a dark empire to the war chapels of a Ravenloft campaign. Unpainted, the crispness of the detail speaks for itself.

A second image shows the printed crate alongside a large d20 die, giving a clear sense of scale — the crate sits neatly within a single grid square and holds its own as a background detail or focal point on the battlefield.

Bring this crate to your table if you are:

  • Building out a gothic, grimdark, or dark-industrial battlefield
  • Dressing a war camp, artillery emplacement, or cult armoury
  • Adding scatter terrain depth to a Ravenloft or Shadowfell encounter
  • Looking for a characterful painting project with exceptional surface detail
  • Creating a display diorama with a dark fantasy or gothic war aesthetic

Encounter Hook

The party has tracked a Cult of the Iron Skull to an abandoned bell tower. As they breach the upper chamber, they find row upon row of these crates stacked floor to ceiling — candles burning despite no living hand to light them, the skulls on each facing inward as if arranged for a ritual. Someone has been here recently. Something has been fed.
