- ✔ Designed for display shelves and painting competitions
The Gorgona Bust captures a gorgon queen at the height of her terrible power. Her expression is composed, almost regal — the calm of a creature who has never once feared anything that breathed. A crown of living serpents writhes about her head, their mouths open mid-strike, each one sculpted with striking individual detail. Ornate pauldrons adorned with scaled motifs frame her shoulders, and a decorative clasp sits at her chest, hinting at a ceremonialism that makes her feel less like a monster and more like a ruler of something vast and forgotten.
As a display bust, this piece is designed to reward painters. The serpent hair alone offers a dozen opportunities for different scale textures and colour work — from venom-bright greens to obsidian blacks. The facial expression, the wind-swept hair flowing behind her, and the layered ornamental stonework of the plinth base all give painters a rich variety of surfaces to explore. She works equally well as a showcase piece on a collector's shelf or as a visual centrepiece on a Dungeon Master's table — the kind of prop that tells players everything they need to know about what they're facing before a single word is spoken.
Perfect for adventurers who:
- Want a characterful display bust with serious painting potential
- Are building a collector's shelf of fantasy monsters and villains
- Need a striking visual aid for a Medusa, gorgon, or serpent-queen encounter
- Are looking for a gift for a miniature painter or dedicated Dungeon Master
- Draw inspiration from Greek mythology for their TTRPG campaigns
Encounter Hook:
The party has been following a trail of petrified travellers — each one frozen mid-step, mid-scream, all facing the same direction. In the heart of a ruined Underdark temple, they find her throne room: dozens of statues arranged like courtiers, and at the far end, perfectly still and smiling, Gorgona herself — who has been watching them since they entered.
