Goblins are often played for laughs — fodder for first-level parties, easily routed, quickly forgotten. This one didn't get the memo. The Goblin Tribe Guard stands in a wide, grounded stance with a spear levelled and a broad banded shield raised across his body, jaw set and teeth bared in the kind of grimace that says he has held this post before and he intends to hold it again. His ears are enormous, his muscles are wiry and coiled, and his expression is all concentrated aggression. He wears minimal armour — wrappings at the wrists and shins, a rough cloak draped across his back — but carries himself with the confidence of a creature that knows exactly how dangerous a cornered goblin can be.
The sculpt rewards painters who enjoy working on character faces. That snarl has real depth — you can practically hear the hiss as your party rounds the corner. The shield offers broad flat panels broken up by bolted straps, giving plenty of room for freehand tribal markings or chipped battle damage. The cloak folds naturally across the back with enough texture to hold a wash beautifully.
Whether you need a lone sentry to block a dungeon corridor, a rank-and-file defender for a goblin lair encounter, or a characterful piece for your display shelf, this guard brings genuine personality to the role. He is available on a decorative sculpted base or a plain gaming base — whichever suits your table or your basing style.
- ✔ Adventurers running goblin tribe or wilderness encounters needing characterful rank-and-file defenders
- ✔ Dungeon Masters who want their goblin guards to actually look like a threat worth respecting
- ✔ Painters drawn to expressive faces, layered cloth, and shields ripe for freehand work
- ✔ Collectors building out a cohesive goblinoid warband for display
Encounter Hook
The party has tracked a missing merchant's wagon to a hillside cave entrance. Two torches flicker either side of the opening — and between them, a single goblin guard stands spear-raised, shield locked, and eyes burning with the desperate focus of a creature who knows exactly what the boss will do if he lets anyone through.
