Goblin Archer 06 Fighting is a character-packed bundle from Novaminis that captures the chaotic energy of a goblin warband mid-skirmish. The sculpts show goblin archers in three distinct states of battle: one standing firm with bow fully drawn and an arrow levelled at its target, one mid-sprint with bow in hand and a manic grin plastered across its fanged face, and one sprawled on the ground — arrow-quiver scattered, claws outstretched — in a wonderfully expressive fallen pose that is as useful for tracking casualties as it is for narrative drama.
Each goblin is lean and wiry, dressed in layered wrappings and scraps of armour adorned with bone and spike trim. The facial expressions are a particular highlight of Novaminis' work here: wide eyes, bared teeth, and that signature wild-eyed ferocity that makes these goblins feel genuinely threatening rather than merely comic. The detail in the knuckles, the loose cloth, the arrow shafts, and the crude shoulder pauldrons all reward a painter who takes their time over the basecoat.
This bundle is well-suited to adventurers who want to build out a credible goblin ambush without populating the table with identical miniatures. The variety of poses — active, moving, and fallen — allows DMs to narrate the flow of a skirmish and gives painters a range of compositional challenges to work through. They work equally well as part of a painted display diorama as they do scattered across a forest encounter map.
- ✔ Goblin archers are a staple of low-to-mid-level D&D encounters — these sculpts do justice to the threat
- ✔ The fallen pose doubles as a casualty marker or diorama element
- ✔ Expressive faces and varied stances make painting each one a distinct project
- ✔ Works brilliantly alongside larger goblinoid warbands, hobgoblins, or a bugbear chieftain
Encounter Hook
The party is halfway across the old stone bridge when the first arrow skips off the paladin's pauldron. From the treeline, three goblins break cover — one drawing back for a second shot, one sprinting for the bridge's far end to cut off the retreat, and a third already down in the mud, cursing and clawing for a dropped arrow. The players have six seconds. What do they do?
