This gnoll miner is a creature of grim purpose — hunched low under the weight of a massive bundled pack loaded with stone, rope, and supplies, yet still clutching a broad cleaver with the casual ease of something accustomed to violence. A riveted pot helmet sits cocked on its snarling, open-jawed head, and the layered wrappings of cord and cloth around its torso and legs speak to years of hard labour in dark places. This is not a warrior who sought glory — this is a worker bred into a life of digging, carrying, and killing anything that gets in the way.
The sculpt captures that contradiction brilliantly: the weight of the pack forces the body into a forward-leaning crouch, yet the posture still reads as threatening rather than burdened. The cleaver arm is dropped and ready, the jaws are wide, and the clawed feet are splayed for grip. From the front you get the full snarl; from the rear, a richly detailed pack construction — tightly bound bundles, rope loops, and a blade or pickaxe handle jutting up above the load. Both angles reward the painter equally.
This variation is the standard armed pose — if you're building out a gnoll tribe encounter with varied roles, check the other listings in this range for alternate sculpts.
This mini is a great fit for adventurers who:
- Run gnoll encounter groups with distinct tribal roles — warrior, shaman, labourer
- Need enemy minis that carry flavour beyond a generic humanoid grunt
- Are painting an Underdark campaign populated with digging, resource-hungry warbands
- Want a character-rich NPC or minor villain with obvious backstory baked into the sculpt
- Love collecting detailed creature minis that look equally compelling on a shelf
Encounter Hook: The party follows a trail of claw marks and dropped ore pellets into a worked tunnel — and finds the source: a gnoll mining crew who have broken through into the ruins of a dwarven vault. The miner at the front doesn't retreat. It drops its pack, levels the cleaver, and lets out a bark that echoes through the stone. Somewhere deeper in the dark, others answer.
