Giant Widow Spider 01 by Novaminis
Description
The webs came first — strung across the passage like a curtain of silk and warning — and then, from the darkness above, eight eyes caught the torchlight.

- ✔ Supplied unpainted and ready to prime
- ✔ Compatible with D&D, Pathfinder, and all tabletop RPGs
- ✔ Equally at home on the gaming table or the display shelf
This is pose 01 of the Giant Widow Spider range by Novaminis, and it captures the creature mid-stalk: abdomen swollen, legs splayed at lethal angles, chelicerae raised and ready. The sculpt leans into the widow spider's most unsettling qualities — that grotesquely bulbous body balanced on long, blade-tipped limbs — making it as effective as a display piece as it is a source of dread on the tabletop. Whether you're fielding a lone ambush predator or a chittering nest of horrors, this sculpt carries real weight.
In D&D 5e terms, giant spiders are a staple of low-to-mid tier play, but a well-painted mini transforms a routine encounter into something the party genuinely doesn't want to approach. The Widow variant's silhouette — that heavy, rounded abdomen and spindly reach — reads immediately as dangerous, even across a cluttered battlemat.
A good fit for adventurers who:
- Run Underdark or drow-themed campaigns and need credible arachnid threats
- Want a versatile spider mini that works equally well in caverns, ruins, dark forests, and monster lairs
- Are building a painted creature collection and want something with strong, paintable surface detail
- Need a boss-tier spider or lead creature for a swarm encounter
Encounter Hook:
The party finds the scout they were sent to locate — wrapped tight in silk, suspended from the ceiling of a collapsed burial chamber. The webbing is fresh. The Giant Widow Spider that left it is still here, clinging to the far wall, utterly motionless, watching to see which one of them moves first.
Scaled to 32mm. Available with or without a plain black base — the base is supplied unattached and can be fixed with a small amount of glue. Supplied unprimed and unpainted, ready for your brushwork or striking straight from the box.
