This large-scale miniature depicts a ratfolk alchemist mounted atop a massive giant rat, rendered with extraordinary detail. The rider is clad in segmented armour and carries a flaming torch aloft in one clawed hand, while his other grips a pouch or flask — suggesting a creature as comfortable mixing volatile concoctions as he is commanding the vermin of the undercity. A bulging satchel and coiled rope harness are strapped across the mount's back, hinting at a life spent deep in tunnel systems and forgotten warrens.
The giant rat itself is sculpted with a wire-muzzle brace, crouched haunches, and splayed clawed feet pressed into a cracked stone base — mid-lunge, all muscle and rodent menace. The level of sculptural detail across both rider and mount makes this a genuinely rewarding painting project, with distinct textures across fur, leather, metal, and rope.

Encounter Hook: The party has been tasked with clearing a rat infestation beneath the city's apothecary district — but when they descend into the tunnels, they find the rats are organised.
