This large-scale sculpt depicts a colossal dungeon spider crouched atop a heaving mound of eggs, her spindly barbed legs spread wide across a web-strung rocky base. The detail on the carapace is exceptional — every segment of the abdomen, every joint of her serrated legs, and the intricate veining of the webs beneath her are all crisply rendered. Dozens of round, leathery eggs cluster around the base, and a finely sculpted section of web fills the space beneath her thorax, giving the whole piece a sense of organic, living menace.
Compared to a standard 32mm miniature, this is a genuinely large piece — the size reference in the product image shows it dwarfing a d20, making it a commanding centrepiece for any dungeon encounter. Whether you paint her in the mottled ochre tones of a cave spider or the jet-black of a Lolth-touched queen, there is extraordinary surface area here for skilled painters to work with.
As an encounter mini she works brilliantly for spider queen lairs, Underdark nesting chambers, or any dungeon room where the party rounds a corner and immediately regrets it. As a display piece, the layered composition of eggs, webs, and rocky rubble makes her a self-contained diorama in her own right.
Brilliant for adventurers who:
- Run Underdark campaigns featuring Lolth's children or drow spider cults
- Want a large-size spider encounter to replace a flat token on the grid
- Love arachnid monsters and need a nest-guardian for a dungeon encounter
- Paint display-quality creatures and want a richly detailed centrepiece project
- Are building out a spider lair with scatter terrain and webbing elements
Encounter Hook: The ranger's torch catches the glimmer of a thousand eyes — not one pair, but hundreds, blinking open across the ceiling, the walls, the floor. At the chamber's heart, half-buried in a hill of eggs large enough to swallow a halfling whole, the mother lifts her barbed forelegs. A DC 14 Nature check tells the party what they already feared: these eggs are days from hatching. The question is whether they destroy the nest now — or whether she lets them try.
