This is no shambling undead thrall — the Ghoul Gravecaller is something far more dangerous. Gaunt and wild-haired, this hunched figure strides forward with unsettling purpose, one arm thrust outward with clawed fingers splayed, as if hurling necrotic energy or commanding unseen hordes to rise. The other arm hangs low at the side, its hand half-skeletal, knuckle bones and hooked claws forming a grotesque contrast with the tattered robes that sweep behind.
The belt is adorned with small bones and charms — the trophies and tokens of a creature that has spent centuries communing with the dead. The face is gaunt and twisted, mouth open, eyes sunken, hair wild and lank, with what appears to be a crude circlet pressing into the brow. Every element of the sculpt speaks to a creature that has crossed some irrevocable threshold between the living and the dead, and has found power in that crossing.
From the front, the outstretched arm and dynamic lean forward give the miniature tremendous table presence — this figure looks like it is mid-cast, mid-command, mid-threat. From the rear, a cascade of bones and charms hang from the belt, and the flowing robes billow with motion. This is a sculpt that rewards painting from every angle.
Chase variant — this sculpt represents a specific dynamic pose within the Gravecaller range, capturing the creature mid-stride with full spellcasting menace.
Well-suited for adventurers who:
- Need a commanding undead spellcaster as a mid-tier villain or cult leader
- Are running Ravenloft, Curse of Strahd, or any gothic horror campaign
- Want a visually distinctive necromancer-type enemy that reads as undead rather than mortal
- Are building a graveyard encounter with a creature that can animate the battlefield
- Collect undead miniatures for display and want a dynamic centrepiece piece
Encounter Hook: The party arrives at the village of Mournstead to find half the graveyard freshly disturbed — headstones toppled, soil turned, and a trail of bare footprints leading into the fog. At the old mausoleum on the hill, a bone-wreathed figure stands with one arm outstretched toward a dozen slowly rising shapes. The Gravecaller turns, and from its throat comes not a voice, but the collective moan of every corpse it has ever claimed.
