This is the Ghoul from Yasashii Kyojin Studio, and it is one of the more unsettling sculpts in their undead range. The figure is rendered in extraordinary anatomical detail — emaciated to the point of grotesque, with taut, stretched musculature visible across the torso and limbs. Two distinct poses are captured across this range: one shows the creature lurching forward with both clawed hands extended, head low and jaw set in a predatory grimace; the other shows it hunched almost double, face buried toward its hands as though feeding or scenting prey. Both are unnervingly specific in their body language — this is not a generic zombie, it is something faster, more deliberate, and deeply wrong.

In D&D 5e, Ghouls are CR 1 undead predators feared not for their brute strength but for their paralysing touch — the ability to freeze a character in place while the rest of the pack closes in. On the tabletop, that threat reads far more convincingly when the miniature itself looks like it was designed to cause that exact creeping dread. Whether you're running a graveyard ambush, a catacomb descent, or a village slowly being picked apart at night, this sculpt carries the encounter's tone the moment it hits the mat.

Suits adventurers who:

  • Run horror-inflected D&D 5e campaigns with undead encounters that need genuine menace
  • Want a Ghoul or Ghast miniature with anatomy-forward sculpting rather than cartoonish undead design
  • Are building a Ravenloft, graveyard, or undead-themed encounter set
  • Collect and paint dark fantasy miniatures for display as well as play

Encounter Hook:
The party is hired to investigate a village where livestock have been disappearing — but on their first night, a farmer's child describes something that walked upright, bent nearly in two, and pressed its face to the ground outside the barn door. By dawn, the trail of claw marks leads directly toward the flooded crypt beneath the old tithe chapel.
