Gearworm Serpent Bust by Witchsong Miniatures
Description
Something ancient stirs beneath the artificer's city — not flesh, not truly machine, but something in between, coiled and patient and very, very hungry.
- ✔ Large-scale display bust — significantly bigger than standard 32mm
- ✔ Resin printed fresh to order in the UK
- ✔ Supplied unpainted — ideal as a centrepiece painting project
- ✔ Designed for display shelves and painting competitions
The Gearworm Serpent is one of those creatures that blurs the line between the natural and the constructed — a serpentine predator reimagined in angular stone plating, exposed gear mechanisms, and segmented mechanical jaws. This bust captures the creature mid-threat display: jaws wide, rows of sharp teeth visible against a cavity of coiled springs and toothed cogs, the whole thing mounted on a textured stone plinth that feels like it belongs in the ruins of a collapsed artificer's workshop or a forgotten vault beneath a great arcane city.
The sculpt is a showcase piece in every sense. The contrast between the rough, cracked stone-like armour plating across the skull and the mechanical precision of the interior jaw assembly gives painters an extraordinary range of textures to work with — dry-brushed rock, NMM or TMM metals, OSL opportunities from the gear cavity. As a display bust it rewards time and technique, but even off the printer it carries real presence on a shelf. A natural centrepiece for any collection leaning into constructs, aberrations, or magitech worldbuilding.
Well suited to adventurers who:
- Paint display busts and want rich surface variety across a single piece
- Collect constructs, mechanical creatures, or serpentine monsters
- Are building a magitech, artificer, or arcane dungeon setting
- Want a conversation piece for the shelf or gaming table alike
- Are looking for visual inspiration for a campaign villain, dungeon guardian, or unique boss encounter
Encounter Hook:
The party has been hired to retrieve a stolen schematic from a sealed artificer's vault beneath the city of Ironmere. The door opens easily — suspiciously easily. In the centre of the chamber, mounted on a plinth like a trophy, sits what appears to be a decorative serpent bust. It is not decorative. It has not been dormant. The gears inside its jaw begin to turn the moment the first adventurer crosses the threshold.
Details
This is a display bust, scaled to complement a 32mm miniature collection. It is printed without a separate gaming base, as the integrated stone plinth is part of the sculpt. Supplied unpainted and unassembled where applicable.
