Mimics are masters of deception, reshaping themselves into the mundane and the inviting. This one has outdone itself. The Gazebo Mimic is a full-scale garden pavilion — tiered shingled roof, decorative columns, low picket balustrade, planked floor — that has become something far more dangerous. Tentacles erupt from beneath the roofline, massive fanged jaws gape open at the base, and sinuous limbs curl out from every corner. The sculpt captures both forms at once: the innocent structure and the predatory horror lurking beneath it.
This is scatter terrain as a plot twist. Whether placed in a market square, noble's estate, or cursed woodland clearing, it transforms any encounter zone into something adventurers will not forget. Equally compelling as a display piece — the contrast between ornate architectural detail and writhing eldritch anatomy makes it a centrepiece on any shelf.
Perfect for adventurers who:
- Want to run mimic encounters that go well beyond treasure chests
- Are building urban, estate, or wilderness encounter maps
- Love scatter terrain that doubles as a boss monster reveal
- Collect display pieces with genuine character and visual drama
Encounter Hook:
The village elder asks the party to investigate why no one returns from the new gazebo in the memorial gardens. The structure looks pristine. The flowers around it are unusually well-fertilised. As the rogue leans against one of the columns to examine the area, it leans back.
