- ✔ Designed for display shelves and painting competitions
This is the bust of Gaven, the Brave Warrior — a striking display piece sculpted by Great Grimoire and mounted on a tiered classical plinth. The sculpt captures Gaven from the chest upward: layered pauldrons and studded leather armour speak to a warrior who has seen real campaigns, while a loosely draped scarf around the neck adds a dash of personality beneath all that battle-worn practicality. Hair swept back and partially pinned, expression composed and watchful — this is someone who has faced the worst the realm can offer and is already thinking about the next encounter. A sword hilt is visible over the right shoulder, suggesting readiness rather than aggression.
The level of surface detail across the armour straps, buckles, and fabric folds makes this a rewarding project for painters who want depth and texture to work with. As a bust rather than a full miniature, Gaven is built for the display shelf, the painting competition entry, or the corner of the gaming table that quietly commands attention. He also serves beautifully as visual inspiration for a veteran Fighter, a seasoned NPC commander, or a grizzled patron with a complicated past.
A fine choice for adventurers who:
- Paint display busts and want a sculpt that rewards careful layering and shading
- Collect fantasy busts as finished centrepiece pieces
- Need a striking visual reference for a campaign NPC, patron, or recurring ally
- Want to gift something genuinely memorable to a hobbyist or tabletop player
Encounter Hook:
The players have been summoned to a war council chamber, and the first thing they notice is a marble bust of a warrior on the mantelpiece — weathered, honourable-looking, clearly significant. When they ask about it, the elderly general pauses and says simply: "That is Gaven. He held the northern pass alone for six hours so the civilians could reach the walls. There is no body to bury." Now the players have a name, a legend, and a quest they weren't expecting to care about.
This bust is supplied unpainted in grey resin and mounted on a tiered square plinth base as shown. It is a display bust rather than a standard 32mm tabletop miniature — designed to be painted, exhibited, and admired. We take care to remove supports before dispatch, though minor marks may occasionally be present and are easily cleaned up with light sanding.
