Garruk Brinehook is a figure of the docks — barrel-chested, rope-belted, and utterly unconcerned with what anyone thinks of him. He stands on a planked harbour base complete with mooring posts and coiled rope, one enormous fish slung over his shoulder like a calling card, a spiked polearm resting in his other fist. His mohawk bristles above a heavy-bearded, broad-featured face that has seen too many brawls to bother counting, and the tattered skirt and bare torso beneath rope bindings speak to a life lived entirely on his own terms.
The sculpt rewards painters at every level. The fish itself — scales, fins, and all — offers tremendous texture work, while the rope details coiled around his waist and hanging from the base add tactile interest across the whole piece. The weathered planks of the dockside base tie the whole composition together into something that reads as a specific place and a specific personality.
As a character on the gaming table, Garruk slots naturally into port city encounters: the feared enforcer at the end of the pier, a black-market fence who trades in things that fell off the back of a ship, or a brutish ferryman who charges whatever toll he feels like on any given morning. He works equally well as a recurring NPC or as a proper BBEG anchor for a nautical campaign arc.
Whether you paint him in salt-bleached harbour greys or the vivid bruise-tones of someone who has taken as good as he gives, Garruk Brinehook makes a genuine centrepiece — on the table and on the shelf.
Well suited to adventurers who:
- Need a memorable harbour enforcer or port-city crime boss for their campaign
- Want a richly textured showcase piece with exceptional surface detail
- Are running nautical or seafaring adventures and need a grounded, threatening NPC
- Appreciate character sculpts with genuine personality baked into every inch
Encounter Hook: The party arrives at the salt-rotten docks of Shiverspire to collect a debt owed to their patron — only to find Garruk Brinehook leaning against the harbour post, casually holding the debtor's ledger and a very large fish. He hasn't opened the ledger. He doesn't need to. He just watches them walk closer.
Details
