Gargoyle 02 from Great Grimoire's Balgazod range depicts a powerful winged gargoyle in a low, crouching pose — haunches drawn in, taloned feet splayed, and broad batlike wings half-furled at its back. The face carries a fierce, watchful expression beneath a pair of swept-back horns, and every surface is textured with the granular roughness of ancient weathered stone. This is pose 2 of the Balgazod gargoyle range, and where the first pose leans into aggression, this one carries a coiled, observant menace — the kind of creature that waits before it strikes.
Whether you're placing it atop a haunted manor, stationing it as a Construct encounter in a dungeon's upper tier, or painting it as a display piece in your collection, the sculpt rewards careful brushwork. The chipped stone texture across the musculature gives painters a natural road map for drybrushing and washes, while the dramatic silhouette holds its own unpainted on the shelf.
Well-suited for adventurers who:
- Need a Construct or Monstrosity encounter for urban or gothic settings
- Are building a haunted city, ancient temple, or cursed fortress arc
- Want a display piece that doubles as a table-ready mini
- Are expanding a gargoyle warband alongside other Balgazod variants
Encounter Hook:
The party is hired to investigate a series of disappearances near the old cathedral quarter. Every victim was last seen at night, near the rooftops. The city watch insists the carved stone guardians on the bell tower have always looked like that — but the stonecutter who originally made them died fifty years ago, and he only ever carved four.
Details
Printed at 32mm scale. A decorative base option is available — three styles to choose from: Book Scene (a flagstone platform scattered with tomes and a candelabra), Pedestal Scene (gothic stonework with skull relief panels), or Stairs Scene (curved stone steps with ornate iron railings). If you select the decorative base, please include a note with your order specifying which of the three you'd like. Bases are supplied separately and can be attached with a small amount of glue. A plain black base is included as standard if no preference is stated.
