- ✔ Equally at home on the gaming table or the display shelf
The Fungideer is one of those creatures that stops a table cold the moment it hits the mat. Part stag, part fungal colony, it rears up on its hind legs with a posture that reads as both territorial display and something far stranger — a being that exists at the blurred boundary between beast and Underdark entity. Its body is draped in layered bracket fungi and ridged gill-like frills, while a magnificent cap of perforated mushroom growth fans out from its skull like a crown that grew there without invitation. The tail is edged with bone-pale spines, and the whole sculpt carries that unsettling sense of wrongness that makes the best encounter minis so memorable.
In game terms, the Fungideer sits comfortably as a Fey beast, a Plant-category monstrosity, or a corrupted creature tainted by Underdark spore-magic. It could serve as a wandering hazard in a myconid-held cavern, a spirit-creature bound to a cursed grove, or even a mount for a sufficiently reckless Druid. The detail in this sculpt — from the texture of the gill frills to the individual spines along the tail — rewards both the DM who drops it on the table and the painter who takes their time with it.
Suited to adventurers who:
- Run Underdark or Feywild-themed campaigns and want something genuinely distinctive
- Enjoy painting organic textures — fungi, ridged frills, and layered growths
- Build encounter sets or dioramas where the creature itself tells a story
- Collect unusual fantasy creatures beyond the standard monster manual fare
Encounter Hook:
The party's tracker spots hoofprints leading into the cave — but they're surrounded by a ring of bioluminescent spores that pulse in rhythm, as if something is breathing nearby. Then the prints simply stop, midstride, and from the dark above them comes the sound of something very large shifting its weight.
Details
Supplied at 32mm scale. The model and decorative base are separate pieces, designed to be attached with a small amount of glue — some sculpts interact directly with their base, so we recommend it for the best presentation. This mini works equally well as a gaming piece or a display centrepiece on your shelf.
