This is the Frost Worm Climbing — a Huge creature sculpted by Epic Miniatures that captures the precise moment this arctic horror bursts free of the ice, rearing up with claws braced and jaws wide. The sculpt sits on a 76.5mm base, and the sheer vertical mass of the model is commanding: cracked, tessellated scales wrap the body in overlapping stone-like plates, giving the creature a geological weight that reads beautifully from every angle. The single central eye sits above a mouth bristling with irregular fangs, and the forward-reaching clawed limbs give the impression of a creature mid-lunge rather than simply posed.
The rear of the model is equally detailed — layered dorsal scales and a sweeping body coil that shows just how much of this worm remains buried. Paint it as a pale arctic beast with ice-blue glazes across the scale crevices, or go darker and treat those cracks as bioluminescent veins for something altogether more alien. Either way, there is a remarkable amount of surface detail here for the painter to work with.
This miniature works equally well as a centrepiece creature on the gaming table or as a display piece — the dynamic climbing pose gives it a presence that flat-footed monster sculpts simply cannot match.
A great choice for adventurers who:
- Run arctic, mountain, or frozen wasteland campaigns and need a genuinely threatening Large-to-Huge encounter
- Want a frost worm, purple worm variant, or burrowing horror with a distinctive vertical silhouette
- Are looking for a display-worthy painting project with extensive scale and texture detail
- Need a creature that reads instantly as dangerous from across the table
Encounter Hook: The party has been following a supply caravan through the Frostpeak Pass when the lead cart simply drops — swallowed by a sinkhole that wasn't there a moment ago. As the survivors scramble back, the ground ahead erupts and the Frost Worm Climbing hauls itself free of the frozen earth, its single eye fixing on the nearest adventurer with cold, unwavering hunger. The ice beneath their feet begins to crack.
