This is a huge-scale frost worm miniature — based on a 76.5mm base — and the sculpt earns every millimetre of that footprint. The creature is depicted mid-surge, its armoured body coiled atop a bed of shattered ice and fractured permafrost. Heavy, overlapping scale plates run the length of its body, each one deeply defined with surface cracks and natural wear that will reward a wash-and-drybrush paint scheme. At the front, a single cyclopean eye stares out from beneath a crown of jagged ice-crystal spines, flanked by a gaping maw lined with multiple rows of inward-curving fangs — the kind of mouth that has no interest in letting go of whatever enters it.
The base itself is an integral part of the composition. Shards of broken rock and ice radiate outward from the worm's mass, suggesting it has just erupted through the surface rather than simply sitting upon it. The rear of the body curls around and back, giving the piece a sense of enormous contained mass — this creature is not moving away from your party. It is turning to face them.
Whether you are running a Rime of the Frostmaiden campaign, a high-altitude wilderness adventure, or simply want a show-stopping encounter piece, this sculpt delivers the kind of physical presence on the table that forces your players to take the threat seriously. It is equally well-suited to a display shelf as a stand-alone centrepiece.
Well suited to adventurers who:
- Run arctic or frozen wilderness campaigns and need a genuinely imposing apex predator
- Want a huge-base creature that reads as a serious, session-defining threat
- Enjoy painting large, heavily textured sculpts with scales, ice, and shattered terrain details
- Are building out an arctic encounter collection and need the monster at the top of the food chain
- Collect large-format fantasy miniatures for display as well as gameplay
Encounter Hook: The party has been following a trail of collapsed tunnels through the glacier for two days when the ice floor ahead of them simply erupts upward. A frost worm — easily thirty feet of armoured, frozen hunger — coils from the ruin, blocking the only passage out and bringing with it the deep, bone-shaking vibration of its trill. Survival now depends on whether anyone remembered to prepare something that burns.
