This is the Frogfolk Chief 01, the first pose in our Frogfolk Chief range by Novaminis. He stands in a wide, commanding stance: one massive hand gripping a tall wooden spear tipped with a chipped stone blade, his expression set in a permanent scowl of territorial authority. A necklace of small animal skulls hangs across his bloated chest, and studded leather pauldrons bristle with bone spikes at shoulder and crown. A tattered cloak hangs at his back, and every detail — from his warty hide to the rope-wrapped spear haft — speaks to a creature who has clawed his way to the top of the food chain and intends to stay there.
For Dungeon Masters, the Bullywug Chief is a natural encounter anchor: a named tribal leader commanding a warband of lesser frogfolk, guarding a sunken shrine in the fetid heart of a swamp, or serving as an unlikely power broker in a Feywild-adjacent adventure. He reads clearly on the table whether you place him at the centre of a combat encounter or use him as a recurring NPC whose grudging respect the party must earn.
Particularly well-suited for adventurers who:
- Run swamp, wetland, or Feywild-themed campaigns and need a distinctive tribal leader
- Want a characterful Bullywug boss to anchor a frogfolk warband encounter
- Are building display collections of creature chiefs and tribal leaders
- Paint monsters with personality — the skull jewellery, spiked pauldrons, and expressive face offer excellent detail for washes and drybrushing
Encounter Hook:
The village elder warned the party that the old temple in the fen now belongs to Chief Grakkaw, and that three militiamen who tried to reclaim it were returned — alive, but changed in ways no one will describe. When the party finally wades to the temple steps, they find the Chief waiting at the entrance, spear planted in the mud, clearly having known they were coming for some time.
Details
Printed at 32mm scale and available with or without a plain black display base — the base is unattached and can be fixed with a small amount of glue. Each miniature arrives support-removed and fully cured, ready for priming and painting or straight to the table as-is. As with all hand-finished prints, minor surface marks are possible; these are easily addressed before painting.

For Tabaxi adventurers especially — yes, the cats did purr when this one came through. We noticed too.
Works beautifully alongside fey creatures for complete aquatic encounters — or explore more from Novaminis.
