This Frog Folk Hunter is a mid-combat, high-energy sculpt — one knee raised on a rocky outcrop, body twisted through the swing of an oversized serrated club. The weapon is the centrepiece: a thick, bone-handled bludgeon with jagged teeth along its striking face, tribal engravings carved into the flat, and a weighted pommel that suggests this thing has caved in skulls before. The hunter's musculature is lean and powerful, with amphibian-smooth skin across the torso and limbs giving way to clawed hands and splayed, webbed feet. A simple loincloth and studded belt keep the silhouette clean and savage. The sculpt is offered in two head variants — one bare-skulled with deep-set goggle eyes, the other sporting a dramatic swept-back quill mane that frames the face like a crown of spines. Both read clearly at tabletop distance and reward close-up painting in equal measure.
The rocky base is dynamic and naturalistically detailed — broken stone scattered beneath those wide feet — giving the whole piece a sense of momentum, as though the Hunter has just leapt up to deliver a devastating overhead blow. Whether you paint the skin in classic mottled greens and browns or go for something more exotic — poison-dart yellows, midnight blues — the smooth planes of amphibian flesh take washes and layering beautifully.
Well-suited for adventurers who:
- Need a threatening melee combatant for swamp, jungle, or riverside encounters
- Are building a Bullywug warband or frog folk tribe for a hex-crawl campaign
- Want a distinctive player character mini for a Grung or Tortle-adjacent homebrew race
- Are after a display piece that rewards careful skin and weapon OSL painting
Encounter Hook: The party's riverboat has run aground on a sandbar deep in the Thornmere Delta. As they pole free, a hollow drumbeat starts from the reeds — and then this Hunter drops from the willow branches above the bow, club raised, followed by the splash of a dozen more entering the water around the hull. The question isn't whether to fight — it's whether the vessel survives the first round.
