This flaming hoop is one of those pieces that earns its place on the table again and again. Mounted atop a ridged ceremonial stand, the circular ring is wreathed in sculpted flames that curl and twist with real energy — the kind of detail that rewards a careful painter with drybrushed oranges, deep reds, and a hot white centre glow.
As a spell effect marker, it works a treat: drop it where a Wall of Fire cuts across the dungeon corridor, use it to mark the entry point of a Gate spell, or place it centre-table as the burning sigil a cultist just finished inscribing on the floor. It reads clearly from across the table without obscuring your minis, and the sculpted base gives it just enough visual weight to feel intentional rather than incidental.
It also makes a compelling display piece in its own right — paint it up as a portal to the Elemental Plane of Fire, a demonic summoning circle, or a circus performer's trick gone catastrophically wrong.
Adventurers who'll get the most from this piece:
- Dungeon Masters who like their spell effects and environmental hazards to have physical presence on the table
- Painters looking for a focussed, satisfying fire-painting project with clear sculptural definition
- Anyone building an Avernus, Elemental, or arcane-themed scatter collection
- Players whose Sorcerer or Warlock PC deserves a dramatic visual marker for their big moments
Encounter Hook: The party has been tasked with closing a series of unstable fire portals that have been appearing across the city — each one scorching the flagstones around it and drawing flame imps through in twos and threes. The last portal is the largest, and it sits in the middle of the temple's inner sanctum. Someone opened it deliberately. Someone is still in there.
