This is the Flame Skull 01, a wraith-like undead horror sculpted by Yasashii Kyojin Studio. The design takes the classic flaming skull concept somewhere far more unsettling: a leering skeletal visage surges forward from a torrent of ghostly, tattered shrouds, tendrils of ectoplasmic cloth billowing and clawing outward as though the creature is tearing itself free from the veil between worlds. The pose is aggressive and dynamic — jaw agape, the skull lunges forward while the mass of spectral drapery curls and splays beneath it like the roots of something ancient and wrong. A second sculpt in this range (visible in the back-angle image) shows the full sweep of that writhing form from behind, all reaching wisps and hollow cavities, giving Dungeon Masters a genuinely eerie table presence from every angle.

Details

At 23mm tall, this is a compact but visually commanding piece — the kind of miniature that earns its place on the table and on the display shelf in equal measure. Whether you're running a haunted ruin, a lich's sanctum, or a necromantic ritual gone catastrophically wrong, this sculpt communicates threat without needing a word of explanation.

Well-suited for adventurers who:

  • Need an undead encounter piece that reads immediately as dangerous and otherworldly
  • Are building haunted crypts, cursed tombs, or necrotic ritual scenes on the tabletop
  • Want a display miniature that rewards careful painting — the flowing shroud work offers exceptional opportunities for OSL and wet-blending techniques
  • Are collectors drawn to expressive, narrative sculpts rather than static poses

Encounter Hook:
The party descends into the collapsed ossuary beneath the old cathedral, following the sound of distant chanting — only to find the source is not a person at all. The Flame Skull has been reciting the names of the dead for three hundred years, and it has just added theirs to the list.

Scaled to 32mm. Available with or without a plain black base — the base ships unattached and can be fixed in place with a small amount of glue. Each piece is printed to a high standard; supports are removed prior to dispatch, though minor surface marks are an occasional and normal characteristic of the printing process and can be smoothed away with ease before priming. Suitable for painting or use straight from the box.

Mitz & Simz — the cats failed their Strength check to open the door but passed their Presence check to make it everyone else's problem.

Works beautifully alongside undead hordes for complete Ravenloft campaigns — or explore more from Yasashii Kyojin.
