Feather Poacher by Great Grimoire

He moves through the king's forest like a shadow with talons — draped in stolen plumage, trailing rope and iron hooks, answering to no lord and no law.

The Feather Poacher is no common brute. This orc operates at the edges of civilisation, hunting creatures that nobles protect and priests revere. His frame is laden with the evidence of a dozen kills: a great feathered cloak stripped from some magnificent beast, its severed wing and taloned foot still hanging at his side as grim trophies. In one hand he grips a heavy hooked staff wound with thick rope — equal parts tool and weapon — while his expression dares anyone to question his right to be here. He's not raiding. He's working.
The sculpt from Great Grimoire is rich with narrative detail: layered feathers cascading across his back, a quiver of crude arrows rising above one shoulder, rope coiled at his feet, and a face set with the calculating menace of someone who has survived far worse than your party. This miniature reads equally well as a poacher-turned-boss-encounter, an antagonist ranger of sorts, or a morally grey NPC who trades in forbidden trophies — brilliant for Dungeon Masters who want their wilderness encounters to carry genuine weight.
Suits adventurers who:
- Need a distinctive orc NPC that goes beyond the standard warband grunt
- Are running wilderness, frontier, or beast-hunting campaign arcs
- Want an enemy whose gear tells a story before the fight even starts
- Collect characterful humanoid minis for display as well as play
Encounter Hook:
The rangers of Thornwood have been tracking a series of kills — a roc fledgling, a hippogriff pair, now a young griffon — each stripped of its finest feathers with practised efficiency. The trail leads to a smoke-stained camp deep in the protected forest, where the Feather Poacher is in the middle of a negotiation with a well-dressed courier bearing a noble's seal. He doesn't look up when the party steps into the firelight. He just sets down his hook-staff very slowly, and smiles.
