This large-format bust captures a fallen paladin at his most imposing. The front view reveals a broad, heavily armoured figure wearing an elaborate spiked crown and pauldrons decorated with leering skull medallions. Intricate feather-and-leaf motifs wind across the chest plate, while heavy chain drapes the torso above a crumbling stone plinth. Small warrior figurines and serpentine carvings ornament the ruined base, and crystal shards jut from the stonework like remnants of a shattered oath. The rear of the piece is equally considered — a cascade of wild, flowing hair spills down the back of the armour, the pauldrons bristle with riveted spines, and the plinth dissolves into cracked stonework and root-like growths, hinting at an ancient, desecrated ruin. This is a display piece that rewards slow painting: every surface offers something to pick out with a brush.

Encounter Hook:
The party arrives at a forgotten chapel deep in the Thornwood, its altar smashed and its walls scorched. The inscription at the base has been partially obliterated, but the last legible words read: He chose the longer war.
