The Eyeless Hunter moves like something that learned to mimic a humanoid without ever truly understanding one. Crouched low, one knee braced against the ground, its elongated clawed hands are splayed and ready — not raised in threat, but in the patient, unhurried posture of a predator that has already decided the hunt is over. A wide, lipless grin splits its gaunt, noseless face, pointed ears swept back, smooth sockets where eyes should be betraying nothing. Wrapped in tattered cloth and carrying a brace of fish at its hip — trophies, bait, or something stranger — this creature has a deeply unsettling domesticity to it, as though it has been living just below your notice for a very long time.
This is pose 03 of the Eyeless Hunter range from Great Grimoire. Where other variants might stand or lunge, this sculpt is all coiled stillness — the moment before the strike, or perhaps just a creature resting, unbothered, in the dark. The detail on the rear of the model is equally striking: exposed bone, decay, and sinew visible across the back, telling a story of something that has endured far more than it should have. A striking centrepiece for Underdark encounters, aberrant cults, or any campaign venturing into places where the rules of biology no longer apply. Equally at home on a display shelf as it is at the gaming table.
Well-suited for adventurers who:
- Run Underdark campaigns or aberrant horror arcs
- Need a unsettling ambush predator or dungeon stalker
- Want a distinctive cult creature or eldritch minion
- Are building a display collection of dark fantasy sculpts
- Are looking for a painting challenge with rich surface detail
Encounter Hook:
The party has been hired to investigate a series of disappearances along the river road. The victims were last seen near the water at dusk — and when the ranger crouches to examine the muddy bank, she finds a neat pile of fish bones, stripped clean, arranged in a deliberate row. Then something grinds against the gravel behind her, and the smell of cold river water fills the air.
