The Eye Tyrant Tavern Worker is one of those rare sculpts that rewards a second look — and then a third, from a different angle, because it has a lot of eyes and none of them miss anything. This is a beholder reimagined not as a dungeon boss floating in a cavern, but as a working professional, and the concept lands with real character. The central eye dominates the front of the fleshy, spike-studded body, mouth stretched wide in that unmistakable beholder grin — too many teeth, too much confidence. Ten eye stalks radiate outward in various states of attention, each tipped with a distinctive eyeball, and the textured, scaly skin across the body gives painters a rich surface to work with. The underside tucks into a detailed armoured basin — something between a cauldron and a throne — which reads as the creature's preferred mode of hovering-in-place while managing the establishment.

The sculpt is available with either a plain base or a decorative scenic base, giving you the choice of integrating this into your own basing scheme or letting the included base do the storytelling. Either way, the model carries enormous presence on the table — this is a large-scale piece that will not go unnoticed in any scene.

For painters, the eye stalks and their varied orientations offer a genuine challenge in a rewarding way: getting consistent glassy highlights across all ten stalks plus the central eye is the kind of project that turns heads at a painting night. The textured skin and the segmented armoured base also respond well to washes and drybrushing, making this accessible to intermediate painters while still offering plenty of depth for experienced ones.

  • Works as a wildly memorable tavern NPC in any Underdark-adjacent campaign
  • Suits any Dungeon Master wanting to wrong-foot players who assume every beholder is a combat encounter
  • A compelling display piece for aberration collectors and beholder enthusiasts
  • Useful as a neutral or allied beholder in factions like the Xanathar Guild

Encounter Hook: The party's contact said to meet their fence at the Floating Eye — a tavern carved into the underside of a stalactite in Skullport. They expected a dive bar. They did not expect the proprietor to be a beholder named Vissel who insists on serving every customer personally, has memorised the party's faces with at least four stalks, and gets deeply offended if anyone orders the house wine without making eye contact first.
