Experiment Alpha is exactly what happens when arcane ambition outpaces ethical consideration. This construct is no lumbering automaton — it's a thing of frantic, lurching momentum, captured here in a dramatic mid-leap pose: one leg extended, arms flung wide, grasping hands reaching in opposite directions as heavy chains coil and trail from its stitched, segmented torso. There's something deeply unsettling about a creation this large moving this fast.
The sculpt rewards close inspection. The body is a patchwork of plated armour sections held together by thick, jagged stitching — less built than assembled under pressure. The arms are segmented and elongated, wrapped in bands and riveted straps that speak to repeated repairs and modifications. The legs are braced in heavy mechanical boots, and the single foot planted on the base carries the full coiled tension of something about to spring again. The chains aren't decorative; they look like they were never quite enough to hold it.
This is a miniature that works equally well as a mid-campaign shock encounter or a carefully painted display piece. The dynamic pose gives painters a genuinely interesting challenge: asymmetric composition, dramatic silhouette, and surface variety across armour plate, chain links, leather bindings, and stitched seams.
This is a multipart miniature — pieces fit together to form the finished sculpt shown. A choice of base styles is available at checkout.
Suits adventurers who:
- Run artificer-gone-wrong story arcs or rogue construct encounters
- Want a large, physically imposing BBEG or lieutenant on the table
- Enjoy painting complex, layered constructs with mixed material textures
- Are building out a Steampunk, dungeon-lab, or arcane horror setting
- Love a miniature with genuine sculptural presence on the display shelf
Encounter Hook
The party has tracked the missing artificer to his sealed workshop beneath the Ironwick Academy. The door is barred from inside. When they finally break through, the room is empty — workbenches overturned, alchemical equipment smashed, chains bolted to the floor torn free at the anchor points. Then something drops from the ceiling behind them.
