This sculpt captures the Lich mid-spellcast — an undead sorcerer-king at the height of his terrible power. The skeletal face peers out from beneath a tall, ornate ceremonial crown, its hollow sockets fixed on whatever unfortunate soul has dared to enter its sanctum. The front profile reveals layer upon layer of arcane authority: embossed pauldrons bearing skull motifs, intricately decorated armour plates, and voluminous robes that billow around the base, one arm extended with gaunt, grasping fingers, the other raised as though channelling a devastating incantation.

The rear view is equally striking — long, wild tendrils of tattered hair or spectral matter cascade down the lich's back in sweeping waves, lending the miniature a genuinely unsettling sense of dark majesty. The flowing cloak merges seamlessly with the base, giving painters a wealth of cloth texture to work with. Whether you go for bleached bone and deep shadow or lean into ethereal greens and necrotic purples, this sculpt rewards every brush stroke.

The base size is medium (25.5mm), keeping the lich well-proportioned for standard encounter grids while the height and mass of the sculpt ensure it commands the table the moment it's placed down.

Well suited for adventurers who:

  • Need a commanding BBEG lich to anchor a necromantic campaign arc
  • Want a showpiece villain for Ravenloft, the Shadowfell, or a long-running dungeon delve
  • Are building an undead court and need the undisputed ruler at its centre
  • Love a complex painting project with rich fabric folds, ornate armour, and dramatic hair detail
  • Collect display-quality miniatures for their shelf alongside the gaming table

Encounter Hook: The party has spent three sessions hunting rumours of the Sable Throne — an artefact said to grant dominion over the dead. They arrive at the crypt's innermost chamber, torches guttering in an unnatural wind, to find it already occupied. Seated upon the throne, one skeletal hand raised in languid greeting and one outstretched as if already preparing the killing blow, is the lich who hid the throne here a thousand years ago. He was not expecting guests. He is, however, pleased to have them.
