This is no ordinary skeleton rattling about in a dungeon. The Evil Skeleton Warrior from Epic Miniatures is a battle-hardened remnant of a warrior who clearly refused to stay dead — and brought his armour with him. Two distinct sculpts are available, each capturing a different stage of grim, undead menace.

The first variant (variation 01) shows a tall, broad-shouldered skeleton advancing with purpose — horned pauldrons, a spiked gorget, skull-embossed buckler, and a wicked double-headed axe raised in one bony fist. The ribcage is exposed through gaps in the armour, and a skull-motif belt-plate sits at the waist. The pose is dynamic and threatening, mid-stride with skeletal claws splayed — this is a warrior that hasn't forgotten how to be dangerous.

The second variant (variation 02) takes a different stance entirely — shorter and stockier in silhouette, with a massive spiked helm dominating the sculpt. The axe is held low in a two-handed grip, blade sweeping forward. The bony frame peeks through articulated plate armour, and the pose reads as a warrior bracing for the next exchange of blows. Where variant 01 charges, variant 02 holds the line.

Both sculpts carry sharp detail throughout — clearly defined bone structure, well-crafted armour with consistent wear and riveting, and weapons with genuine presence. They paint up brilliantly alongside undead warbands or serve as characterful solo encounters. Either would look right at home facing down a party in a crypt corridor or marshalled beneath a lich's banner.

A sound choice for adventurers who:

  • Need undead warriors that actually look threatening on the tabletop
  • Are running a necromancy-heavy campaign or Ravenloft arc
  • Want skeletal enemies with distinct character rather than generic soldier poses
  • Paint undead collections and want two complementary sculpts to display together
  • Are building out a skeleton warband encounter group

Encounter Hook: The party enters the burial vault beneath the old keep to retrieve the baron's signet ring — only to find the crypt already occupied. At the far end of the chamber, two skeletal warriors in antique plate turn in unison, horned helms catching the torchlight. They were the baron's personal guard in life. In death, they still are.
