Erik cuts a grim, deliberate silhouette — a crossbow knight who's long since traded honour for effectiveness. He crouches forward in a low, coiled stance, heavy crossbow levelled and ready to loose, his chainmail hood drawn deep over a masked face that gives nothing away. A flowing cloak sweeps behind him, and beneath it, layered plate and studded armour speak to a professional who has survived long enough to keep upgrading his kit. There's a stillness to him that's more unsettling than aggression — the stillness of someone who has already decided.
This sculpt comes in two variants to suit your encounter: one version presents Erik out in the open, bolt ready to fly, while the second shows him braced behind a heavy wooden pavise shield — riveted timber planted in the earth as he fires from cover. Both are faithful to the same taut, purposeful character and offer a meaningful tactical difference on the table.
Whether you run Erik as a seasoned mercenary guarding a smuggler's route, a knightly enforcer serving a morally ambiguous guild, or as the party's own crossbow-wielding Fighter or Rogue, this sculpt carries the weight of someone who knows exactly what he's doing. The detailed scenic base — cracked stonework underfoot — grounds him firmly in a world-worn urban or wilderness setting.
- Crossbow Fighter or Rogue for a gritty urban campaign
- Elite guard or bounty hunter as a recurring NPC
- Mid-tier BBEG for a guild-focused intrigue arc
- A display piece that rewards careful drybrushing and ink wash techniques
Encounter Hook: The party has been hired to escort a merchant through the Scarlett Road — a route infamous for hired killers taking contracts from competing trade houses. As they round a narrow bend, they spot Erik crouched behind a pavise shield on a ruined wall twenty feet ahead, crossbow trained directly on the merchant's chest. He hasn't fired yet. He's waiting to see if the party's price is better than whoever hired him.
