This gibbet-style prisoner cage is the kind of scenic detail that tells a story before a single die is rolled. A heavy timber gallows frame rises from a rubble-strewn base, two weathered skulls resting ominously at its foot. From the crossbeam, thick iron chains suspend a sturdy wooden barrel cage — the sort used to display captured criminals, failed rebels, or whatever the local warlord wanted to make an example of. A second set of chains hangs loose from the frame, hinting at a prisoner recently taken down — or one that escaped.
Whether placed at the entrance to a bandit camp, outside a corrupt lord's keep, or deep in an Underdark slave market, this piece adds immediate narrative weight to any encounter. It works equally well as a diorama centrepiece or a functional terrain feature on a battle map — placing a captive NPC inside is a story hook all on its own. Sculpted with convincing wood grain and chunky chain links, it photographs beautifully for painted display collections too.
Perfect for adventurers who:
- Want to signal a morally grim location the moment players see the table
- Are running rescue missions, hostage negotiations, or dark political intrigue
- Build detailed dungeon or wilderness scatter terrain for immersive battle maps
- Collect and paint fantasy terrain pieces for display or diorama projects
Encounter Hook:
The party crests the hill and sees the gibbet silhouetted against the dying light — and inside the cage, still alive but barely, is the contact they were sent to find. Getting them down quietly, without alerting the guards camped below, is going to require a plan.
Details
Supplied at 32mm scale. The piece comes as described in the original listing — the model on the detailed base is a single assembled piece, while the plain base variant ships with the base detached for easy gluing. Both are ready to prime and paint straight away, or use unpainted for immediate play.
