This is pose 03 of our Elite Guard range by Galaad Miniatures — a broad-shouldered warrior caught mid-thrust, spear levelled forward with purpose, heavy shield braced at his side. He wears a quilted gambeson beneath riveted pauldrons, with a full-length cloak billowing behind him as if he's just stepped forward to meet an oncoming threat. The open-faced helmet and downward set of his jaw give him the look of a man who's seen this before and is entirely unbothered by it. He means business, and the geometry of his posture makes that unmistakable from across the table.
Where pose 01 and 02 offer their own stances, this third variant is the aggressive one — forward weight, extended weapon, shield arm anchoring his line. He works equally well as a city watchman who's finally had enough, a castle gate sergeant holding the last position, or a retired soldier-turned-bodyguard who came out of retirement for reasons he refuses to discuss. A versatile sculpt for DMs who want their guard encounters to feel genuinely threatening rather than decorative.
Drawn to this mini, adventurers who:
- Need a credible frontline NPC to anchor a city gate or barracks encounter
- Want a Fighter or Paladin player character with a grounded, martial look
- Are building a faction of city guards, castle soldiers, or mercenary retinues
- Collect display pieces with strong character and dynamic posing
Encounter Hook:
The party arrives at the city's inner gate to find it sealed — and a single guard standing before it with his spear already levelled. He doesn't shout a warning. He doesn't reach for a horn. He just shifts his weight forward, shield rising, and says quietly: "Toll's gone up." Whether that means bribery, a shakedown, or something far worse is entirely up to your players to discover.
Details
Supplied at 32mm scale. The decorative base is included as a separate piece and can be attached with superglue — this sculpt benefits from its base, as the cracked stone ground ties naturally into the figure's stance. The model arrives with supports removed and is ready for priming and painting, or looks characterful straight off the base as an unpainted grey piece for gaming use. Some minor marks from the printing process are possible; these are easily tidied up before painting.

The cats attempted a Sleight of Hand check on the bubble wrap. We do not discuss what happened.
