Sovram the Betrayed is no mere dragon encounter. He is a centrepiece villain with history carved into every scale — an Elder Black Dragon whose fury is cold, patient, and absolute. The sculpt captures him rearing upright on a jagged rocky outcrop, wings spread wide and ribbed with age, tail coiling beneath him like a promise of ruin. His spine bristles with dorsal spurs, his hide is layered with rows of raised scales and bony protrusions, and the sheer mass of him demands presence at the centre of any table. This is a dragon who has been wronged, and who has spent centuries deciding exactly what to do about it.
Part of DM Stash's Clash of the Dragons collection, Sovram carries that range's characteristic ferocity — a design language that leans into raw draconic physicality rather than ornamentation. The detail across the wing membranes alone, with their deep ridged striations, makes him as rewarding to paint as he is to place on the table. Equally at home commanding a shelf as commanding a lair, Sovram works brilliantly as both a gaming encounter and a display piece for collectors who appreciate ambitious large-scale sculpts.
A strong fit for adventurers who:
- Need a memorable, lore-rich boss dragon for a D&D 5e campaign climax
- Are building a swamp, ruin, or cursed-lair encounter with a genuine narrative weight
- Enjoy large-scale display painting projects where detail rewards every brush stroke
- Want a dragon miniature that feels earned rather than incidental
Encounter Hook:
The party discovers the ruins of a noble house — not burned, but dissolved. The acid still pools in the stone, and the sigil carved into the threshold matches the one the ancient dragon etched into the treaty he claims was broken. Sovram is not hunting them. He is already there, waiting to be asked why.
Sovram is scaled to 32mm and comes with a detailed scenic rocky base that connects meaningfully with the pose — the model and base are separate pieces, easily attached with superglue. Supplied unpainted and ready for priming, he arrives with supports removed. As with all high-detail large-format sculpts, minor surface marks are possible but easily addressed before painting.
