This stocky, broad-shouldered Dwarf Tribe King carries himself with the particular gravitas of someone who has ruled long enough to stop worrying about it. His long robes sweep dramatically behind him, layered over a belted tunic and wrapped sleeves, while a ceremonial crown with angular, runic prongs sits firmly atop his head. His beard — braided into two long plaits decorated with rings — is the kind that takes decades and considerable pride to cultivate.
In his right hand he raises an ornate staff topped with a stylised avian finial, whilst his left hand extends open-palmed, fingers slightly splayed — the gesture of a man who is either casting a spell or making a point he fully expects you to agree with. There is something knowingly imperious in that pose. He does not need to loom. He simply is.
The sculpt rewards a patient painter: the braided beard offers excellent contrast work, the robes carry beautiful fabric folds across their full length, and the layered textures of the wrapped sleeves and belted waist give plenty of opportunity to build up rich, dark tones befitting a dwarven monarch. Equally at home as a climactic BBEG, a powerful NPC ruler, or a player character who has decided to lean fully into the patriarch archetype.
Particularly well-suited for adventurers who:
- Need a commanding dwarven ruler as a campaign patron or antagonist
- Are building a Norse-influenced mountain clan setting
- Play a Dwarf Wizard, Sorcerer, or Shaman with an elder statesman vibe
- Want a display piece that doubles as a statement miniature on any shelf
Encounter Hook: The party has been summoned before Thorgund Ironveil — Tribe King of the Deepspire Clans — accused of trespassing in tunnels that haven't been dwarven territory for three centuries. He raises his staff and opens his hand, demanding an explanation. Whether that hand offers alliance or signals the start of hostilities depends entirely on what happens next.
