Description

Every great tavern has its heart — and in this one, it's the stout-framed bard perched atop a barrel, fingers resting on the strings of a lyre, ready to lift the mood or quietly gather every secret in the room.

  • ✔ 32mm scale resin miniature, printed fresh to order in the UK
  • ✔ Supplied unpainted and ready to prime
  • ✔ Compatible with D&D, Pathfinder, and all tabletop RPGs
  • ✔ Equally at home on the gaming table or the display shelf

This characterful dwarf bard is a miniature that tells a story before a single brushstroke lands. She sits comfortably — confidently — atop a studded barrel, a well-crafted lyre in one hand and the quiet self-assurance of someone who has played every room from a mountain hold feast-hall to a backstreet city dive. Her long hair is bound by a simple headband, falling in thick waves across a layered tunic and sturdy bracers. There's warmth in her expression and weight in her posture — she's not performing right now, she's listening, and that might be more dangerous.

The seated pose and barrel base make her a genuinely distinctive sculpt — the vast majority of bard miniatures are caught mid-flourish or on their feet. This one captures the quieter side of bardic life: the musician between songs, watching the crowd, filing everything away. For Dungeon Masters, she's a richly usable NPC — an inn's resident entertainer, a spy hiding in plain sight, or a beloved local fixture who knows far more about the town's troubles than she lets on. For players running a dwarf bard character, she's a refreshingly grounded option that leans into the class's storytelling roots rather than its showmanship.

Her sculpt rewards careful painting — the texture contrast between her woven tunic, leather belt, braided bracers, and the wood-and-metal lyre offers a satisfying range of surface types to work with. The barrel base, with its riveted bands and tap detail, adds a lived-in environmental quality that looks excellent both on the gaming table and as a standalone display piece.

Particularly well-suited for adventurers who:

  • Need a tavern NPC with personality and presence rather than generic background filler
  • Are running a dwarf bard player character and want a sculpt that reflects the class's storytelling side
  • Want a miniature that paints up with interesting surface variety across clothing, metal, and wood
  • Appreciate seated miniatures that bring visual variety to a collection or encounter layout
  • Are building out a tavern or settlement scene with distinctive named characters

Encounter Hook

The party settles into the Amber Cask for the night when they notice the dwarf on the barrel hasn't played a note since they walked in — she's watching them. When they approach, she names three of them by profession without being told, pours herself a drink from the very barrel she's sitting on, and quietly slides them a folded note that reads: "I know what you're looking for. Come back at second bell." She knows something. The question is whether she wants to be paid, protected, or simply believed.
