Duodrone by Monster Atlas
Description
It does not question its orders. It does not feel fatigue. It simply marches, spear in hand, grinning that wide mechanical grin — and it has been marching for a very, very long time.
- ✔ 32mm scale resin miniature, printed fresh to order in the UK
- ✔ Supplied unpainted and ready to prime
- ✔ Compatible with D&D, Pathfinder, and all tabletop RPGs
- ✔ Equally at home on the gaming table or the display shelf
The Duodrone is one of the lower-ranking modrons of Mechanus, the plane of absolute law and perfect order. Two-faced, two-armed, two-legged — everything about it is defined by duality and precision. This sculpt by Monster Atlas captures that uncanny quality brilliantly: a boxy, riveted torso mounted on spindly jointed legs, bulbous goggle-eyes set above that unsettling, toothy grin, and a long spear gripped with mechanical certainty. It sits somewhere between charming and deeply strange, which is exactly where a modron ought to be.
Whether you're running a Planescape-inspired campaign, staging an encounter in a Mechanus gateway, or simply want a construct that will genuinely unsettle your players the moment it hits the table, the Duodrone delivers. This is also a miniature that rewards careful painting — the panel lines, exhaust vents, and bolted chassis offer plenty of detail for hobbyists who enjoy a technical painting challenge. Equally at home on a gaming table or a display shelf.
Suited to adventurers who:
- Run planar campaigns touching on Mechanus, Limbo, or the Great Modron March
- Need a low-CR construct encounter with genuine character at the table
- Collect modron miniatures or D&D 5e construct creatures
- Enjoy painting miniatures with geometric, mechanical detail
- Want a display piece with genuine personality — not just a faceless automaton
Encounter Hook:
The party discovers a locked vault beneath a long-abandoned wizard's tower. Inside, standing perfectly still in the centre of the room, a single Duodrone turns its head to face them. "You are not authorised," it says, in a voice like grinding gears. "Explain your purpose within 30 seconds or be classified as hostile." The clock, apparently, is already ticking.
Details
Supplied at 32mm scale. The miniature and base are separate pieces — a small amount of superglue will bring them together. Produced to a high standard with fine detail throughout; we check every piece before it goes out, though minor marks from the printing process are an inherent part of small-batch production and can be tidied up before priming.
