This is pose 03 of the Modron Duodrone range by Novaminis. Where other constructs stand sentinel or march in formation, this particular duodrone is mid-stride and blade in hand — a broad sword raised and ready, a second weapon clutched in its off-hand, and that unsettling cuboid face wearing an expression that sits somewhere between gleeful and grimly determined. The bolted iron panelling of its body, the articulated ball-jointed limbs, and the blocky iron feet all speak to the mechanical precision of Mechanus itself — order given physical, geometric form.
Whether you're running a modron march encounter, staging a planar incursion, or building out a display shelf dedicated to the stranger corners of the planes, this sculpt brings genuine personality to what could easily have been a blank automaton. Duodrones occupy a fascinating niche in D&D lore — just intelligent enough to carry out two tasks, just alien enough to unsettle any party that encounters them. This pose captures that strange energy brilliantly, with a dynamic stride and dual-weapon loadout that reads as both ridiculous and genuinely threatening.
Particularly well-suited to adventurers who:
- Are running a modron march, Mechanus planar adventure, or Planescape-inspired campaign
- Need construct-type enemies that stand apart visually from golems and animated armour
- Want to build out a full modron hierarchy for their tabletop — from monodrones up to hierarch modrons
- Collect display miniatures from the weirder, more geometric corners of D&D's monster manual
- Love a miniature that rewards a character-focused paint job
Encounter Hook:
The party's contact warned them the border town had been "having trouble with outsiders" — what they didn't expect was a unit of duodrones methodically cataloguing every building, tagging residents with a painted geometric mark, and responding to any interference with swift, joyless violence. Someone has sent them here with a task. Finding out what that task is may be the only way to make them stop.
