The Drunkard's Cloak is one of those sculpts that earns a laugh the moment it hits the table. A dishevelled fellow has climbed into a wooden barrel and committed fully to the bit — his head poking out from the top, arms splayed through the sides, and booted feet just visible beneath. Whether he's a down-on-his-luck rogue who lost a bet, a disguise-obsessed NPC with deeply questionable tradecraft, or the world's most optimistic town drunk, this miniature tells a story before a single word of dialogue is spoken.
The detail on the barrel's wood grain and iron bands is genuinely charming, and the character's expression — equal parts defiance and mild regret — gives painters a wonderfully expressive face to work with. This is the kind of piece that earns a permanent spot on the display shelf even after the campaign ends.
Perfect for adventurers who:
- Need a memorable comic-relief NPC to liven up a tavern or market scene
- Are running a heist or stealth scenario with questionable disguises
- Want a conversation-starting display piece with genuine character
- Love painting expressive faces and textured surfaces
Encounter Hook:
The party is tailing a suspected informant through a busy dockside market when they notice a barrel that wasn't there a moment ago — shuffling, ever so slightly, towards the harbour gate. The face poking from the top belongs to the very man they've been searching for, wearing the confident expression of someone who genuinely believes this is working.
