Description
Cursed by Lolth for failing her trials, the drider is no longer drow — it is something older, hungrier, and far more dangerous in the dark.
- ✔ 32mm scale resin miniature, printed fresh to order in the UK
- ✔ Supplied unpainted and ready to prime
- ✔ Compatible with D&D, Pathfinder, and all tabletop RPGs
- ✔ Equally at home on the gaming table or the display shelf
This is the second variation of Novaminis' Drider sculpt, and where the first may threaten, this one dominates the space it occupies. She is low to the ground, eight long, blade-tipped legs splayed outward in a wide, territorial stance — the posture of a creature that does not need to rush. Her bulbous spider abdomen sits heavy behind her, the surface etched with chitinous texture, while her drow torso rises at the centre with arms folded and an expression that reads as cold, calculating patience. A jagged, fang-lined maw opens at the junction of abdomen and torso, adding a visceral horror element that makes this sculpt immediately distinctive on the table.
The spread of the legs gives this miniature a genuinely impressive footprint — she will anchor a battlefield encounter or command attention on a display shelf with equal authority. The detail in the limb joints, the carapace texture on the abdomen, and the fine work on her drow features reward careful painting at every stage. Viewed from above, the radial symmetry of the leg arrangement is almost geometric — unsettling in exactly the right way.
As a variation within the Novaminis Drider range, this sculpt offers a distinctly different energy from the upright, spell-casting pose of Drider 01. Where that sculpt reaches upward, this one hunkers down — a spider lying in wait rather than a spellcaster commanding the weave. Both are worth having; together they make for a memorable encounter group.
This miniature suits adventurers who:
- Run Underdark campaigns featuring Lolth's cursed servants
- Want a drider that reads as a physical, ambush-predator threat rather than a caster
- Are building a drow encounter series with varied sculpts
- Paint display pieces and want a model with strong texture work across a large surface area
- Need a large-base creature that genuinely fills the encounter space it represents
Encounter Hook: The party is navigating a narrow Underdark cavern when they notice the ceiling is lower ahead — and then realise, too late, that the darkness beneath the ledge is not shadow but eight motionless legs, spread wide across the passage floor. She has been watching them since they entered the tunnel.
