Draven Morkhart by Great Grimoire
Description
The hoofbeats came first — a hollow, rattling sound no living horse could make — and then Draven Morkhart crested the ridge, his twisted staff raised and his cloak billowing like a storm cloud given dark purpose.

Draven Morkhart is a mounted dark sorcerer of considerable presence — a hooded, long-bearded figure astride a demonic steed that is very clearly no ordinary horse. The mount's face is a snarling, fanged nightmare with a bony, horned brow; its hooves trail wisps of spectral flame and its flanks are marked with jagged, otherworldly sigils. This is a creature drawn from shadow, bound to its rider by something older than contract.
Morkhart himself is cloaked and cowled, his face obscured beneath a deep hood, a long beard spilling from within. He wields a tall, branching staff topped with a blade-like prong — part spear, part arcane focus — and his posture radiates the calm authority of someone who has not needed to hurry in a very long time. Chainmail sits beneath his travelling robes, hinting that this is no mere scholar; he has seen battle, and survived it.
Printed at 35mm scale, the sculpt rewards careful painting — the texture of the cloak, the detail on the saddle armour, the individual flame wisps at the hooves, and the deeply carved sigil markings on the mount all hold up beautifully under a brush. Whether you shade this as a living warlock-lord or take it fully into undeath with pale bone tones and ethereal blues, Draven Morkhart will dominate the table.
A great fit for adventurers who:
- Need a BBEG sorcerer or dark lord to anchor a campaign arc
- Want a mounted villain encounter that reads as immediately threatening
- Are building a necromantic cavalry force or a Shadowfell-flavoured warband
- Value display-quality sculpts that double as narrative set pieces
- Play Warlock, Wizard, or Sorcerer and want a mounted variant for a darker character concept
Encounter Hook: The party has been tracking the disappearances in the Ashveil borderlands for three sessions. Tonight, crossing the Thornmere causeway at midnight, they finally see the source: Draven Morkhart rides the fog-line at the far end of the bridge, utterly still, as if he has been waiting for them specifically. His staff is already lit with cold fire. His mount does not breathe.
Details
Draven Morkhart is printed at 35mm scale — slightly larger than standard 32mm, giving him commanding table presence as a mounted figure. Supplied unpainted and unassembled, ready for priming and painting. The sculpt features exceptional surface detail throughout: the demonically corrupted horse, the flowing robes and cloak, the ornate staff, and the sigil-marked barding all offer excellent opportunities for blending and layering techniques.
