Description

The arcane college's most promising student barely made it through the first stage of infection before the draconic blight took hold — now he staggers forward, spell scroll clutched in rotting fingers, twin tentacles writhing where his arms once were, a grotesque parody of the scholar he used to be.

  • ✔ 32mm scale resin miniature, printed fresh to order in the UK
  • ✔ Supplied unpainted and ready to prime
  • ✔ Compatible with D&D, Pathfinder, and all tabletop RPGs
  • ✔ Equally at home on the gaming table or the display shelf

This is the Progressed stage of the Dragonblight Stricken Student — variation 02 — depicting the terrifying midpoint of a dragonblight transformation. The figure retains just enough of its former self to be recognisable: a wide-brimmed witch's hat sits atop a decaying, hollow-eyed face, tattered robes and bandaged limbs hint at the student within, and a glowing spell scroll is clutched across the torso as though spell-casting was the last reflex the mind retained.

What makes this sculpt so compelling is the contrast between the mundane and the monstrous. The hat, the robes, the scroll — these are the trappings of a young mage. The two thick, segmented tentacles erupting from the shoulders and curling upward are absolutely not. The dynamic, mid-stride pose suggests the creature is mid-incantation or lurching towards its next victim, and the rocky rubble base grounds the piece in a dungeon or ruined settlement setting. The back view reveals a billowing, textured cloak with extraordinary fabric detail — proof that the sculptor gave as much attention to what adventurers will see across the table as to the front.

As a painted piece, this mini rewards bold colour choices: necrotic greens and deep purples for the tentacles, pale sickly flesh for the rotting face, warm amber on the scroll, and perhaps a faded scholar's blue for the remnants of the robe beneath the corruption.

This miniature is well suited for adventurers who:

  • Run campaigns involving draconic plagues, magical corruption, or body horror
  • Need horror-tinged undead or aberrant enemies for mid-tier encounter tables
  • Want a visually distinctive spellcaster enemy to signal escalating threat
  • Enjoy display painting projects with strong contrast between organic and corrupted elements
  • Are building out a full progression chain of blighted scholar miniatures

Encounter Hook

The party recognises him from the wanted notice pinned to the inn board three days ago — Aldric Voss, missing student of the Varethian Academy. He was described as slight, bookish, anxious. What stands before them in the collapsed library is still wearing his graduation robes, still clutching what appears to be a ruined thesis scroll — but the thing that turns towards them has no eyes left to recognise anyone, and the two tentacles rising from its shoulders are already reaching.
