Description
Behind the beak-mask, no one quite agrees whether Dr. Corvus is a healer, a harvester, or something in between — and he has never seen fit to clarify.
- ✔ Large-scale display bust — significantly bigger than standard 32mm
- ✔ Resin printed fresh to order in the UK
- ✔ Supplied unpainted — ideal as a centrepiece painting project
- ✔ Designed for display shelves and painting competitions
Dr. Corvus is a character who belongs in the fog-choked alleys of a plague-ridden city, at the edge of a battlefield where the carrion birds circle, or standing silently in the antechamber of a merchant lord who owes more than coin for his recovery. This bust captures every detail that makes the plague doctor archetype so compelling: the wide-brimmed hat casting deep shadow over a hooked beak-mask, layered travelling coat with belted pouches, a bandolier of vials, and what appear to be bone charms hanging from his belt — tools of either medicine or mischief, depending on who you ask. The rear of the sculpt is equally considered, with flowing fabric and cloak folds that reward careful painting from every angle.
As a display bust, Dr. Corvus is designed to showcase painting technique, texture work, and character storytelling rather than function as a standard tabletop combat piece. The two-view render reveals a sculpt with genuine depth — the kind that rewards ink washes, careful highlighting on the coat's creases, and freehand detail on those mysterious vials.
Well-suited to adventurers who:
- Enjoy display painting projects with strong character presence
- Want a show-stopping piece for a shelf, cabinet, or painting competition entry
- Are building a dark fantasy or gothic horror display collection
- Need visual inspiration for a morally ambiguous NPC, quest-giver, or campaign villain
- Are running a Ravenloft, city intrigue, or plague-era campaign and want a tangible reference point
Encounter Hook:
The party has been tracking a series of unexplained deaths in the merchant quarter — each victim found peaceful, eyes closed, a single dried flower placed on their chest. The only witness describes a figure in a long coat and beaked mask, carrying a bag of clinking glass. When the players finally corner Dr. Corvus in a candlelit apothecary, he turns slowly, tips his hat, and says: "I wondered when you'd arrive. I've been expecting you. Sit down — this will take some explaining."
