Mimics are the dungeon master's finest tool for instilling genuine unease at the table, and this Doormat Mimic takes that trick to a gloriously mundane extreme. Two variants are included: a curled, worn mat with a partially obscured "WELCOME" sign and a writhing tentacle erupting from its surface, and a flat, ornately bordered doormat with the word raised in bold relief — deceptively civil, utterly dangerous. Both capture that wonderful tension between the ordinary and the horrifying that makes mimics such a beloved staple of D&D 5e and beyond.
Whether you're setting a trap in a merchant's foyer, the entrance to a dungeon lord's lair, or a seemingly hospitable inn, these sculpts do the storytelling before a single die is rolled. They work equally well as encounter pieces on the tabletop or as darkly comedic additions to a display shelf.

Encounter Hook:
The adventurers arrive at the door of the Gilded Threshold tavern — a place they've visited a dozen times before. The proprietor waves them in from behind the bar. One of them glances down at the welcome mat, notices it is slightly damp despite the dry evening, and realises with dawning horror that it has very slowly begun to turn towards them.

Supplied at 32mm scale. This listing includes two sculpt variants of the Doormat Mimic. The sculpt with the integrated base comes as a single piece. The variant with a separate plain base can be easily attached with hobby glue. Both arrive ready for priming and painting, or can be used straight from the box. As with all hand-finished resin pieces, minor surface marks may occasionally be present — these are easily tidied up with light sanding.
