Description

The iron ring is cold, the planks are solid, and the stone arch looks just like every other doorway in the dungeon — until it opens its mouth.

  • ✔ Resin terrain piece, printed fresh to order in the UK
  • ✔ Supplied unpainted — primes and paints easily
  • ✔ Compatible with standard 28mm–32mm miniature scales
  • ✔ Works on the gaming table and as part of a display diorama

Few creatures inspire more delicious paranoia at the table than a Mimic, and this Door Mimic sculpt by Mia Kay M3DM takes that paranoia to its logical extreme. Set into a chunky, textured stone archway, the door itself is the monster — riveted planks, iron banding, and a perfectly ordinary ring handle concealing a cavernous gullet ringed with jagged, overlapping teeth. The piece comes with two states: a closed-door pose showing the Mimic in full disguise, and an open-maw pose with the creature mid-reveal, tongue lolling and teeth bared as it lunges for whatever unfortunate soul just reached for the handle.

Whether you're using it as a trap encounter piece mid-dungeon, a centrepiece for a puzzle room, or simply a brilliantly characterful addition to your display shelf, this sculpt captures the Mimic's essential appeal — the moment where something mundane becomes genuinely threatening. The detail on the stonework, the grain of the false wood, and the organic horror of the maw all make this a reward to paint as much as to play with.

Perfect for adventurers who:

  • Run dungeon-crawl campaigns and want encounters that feel genuinely surprising
  • Love scatter terrain that doubles as a monster token
  • Enjoy painting projects that reward careful drybrushing and wet blending on stone and wood textures
  • Collect iconic D&D monsters for display
  • Want to convince their players never to trust a door again

Encounter Hook:
The party has been in the dungeon for six hours. They're down two spell slots, the rogue is on 4 hit points, and there's one door left between them and the exit. The Fighter reaches for the handle — and the handle reaches back. The Door Mimic has been waiting since the last adventurers came through, three years ago. It is not in a hurry. It is, however, very hungry.

This model is scaled to 32mm and is supplied unpainted, primed and ready for your brushwork. The closed-door version is a single piece attached to its base. The open-maw version is designed to be used as a standalone encounter piece. Supports are removed before dispatch; as with all resin miniatures, minor print marks may occasionally be present and are easily cleaned up.
