Dire Bat 01 by Yasashii Kyojin Studios
Description
Something vast and silent clings to the cave ceiling above you — leathery wings half-spread, jaws open, blind eyes already locked onto the warmth of your torch.
- ✔ 32mm scale resin miniature, printed fresh to order in the UK
- ✔ Supplied unpainted and ready to prime
- ✔ Compatible with D&D, Pathfinder, and all tabletop RPGs
- ✔ Equally at home on the gaming table or the display shelf
The dire bat is no ordinary cave creature. This sculpt from Yasashii Kyojin Studio captures the beast mid-crouch, its enormous membrane wings folded back behind a heavily muscled torso, forelimbs braced wide and taloned feet gripping the ground. The broad, warped face — nostrils flared, jaws wrenched open to expose rows of hooked teeth — reads as a creature already committed to the lunge. A ridge of coarse fur runs along the spine, and the wing membranes show every stretched vein and fold. It is unmistakably a predator, not a pest.
Details
At 55mm tall this is a large-scale model that commands presence on the table, whether you're running a Bestiary encounter by the book or building your own horror in the dark. It works equally well as a focal piece on a display shelf — the dynamic low-crouch silhouette reads clearly from any angle.
Perfect for adventurers who:
- Need a large beast encounter for Underdark tunnels, bat-filled caverns or ruined belltowers
- Are running a swarm escalation — one dire bat leading a flock of its smaller kin
- Want to paint a creature with strong textural variety: smooth wing membrane, coarse fur, and deeply ridged musculature
- Are building a display piece that captures genuine creature menace without relying on a heroic pose
Encounter Hook:
The party has been descending the Ashvault tunnels for three hours when the torchlight picks out fresh guano on the passage floor — not old and chalky, but dark and wet. A ranger's sharp ears catch the sub-sonic clicks before anyone else does. Something has been tracking the party's warmth since the second junction, and it is no longer keeping its distance.
Scaled at 55mm tall and printed at 32mm scale to represent a Large creature. Supplied unpainted and ready for priming. As with all hand-finished resin pieces, minor surface marks are possible; these are easily addressed before painting.
