Description

The undergrowth parts with a low, scraping rustle — and then the sail rises above the ferns, each spine catching the dim light as the Dimetrodon pulls itself forward on powerful, clawed limbs.

  • ✔ 32mm scale resin miniature, printed fresh to order in the UK
  • ✔ Supplied unpainted and ready to prime
  • ✔ Compatible with D&D, Pathfinder, and all tabletop RPGs
  • ✔ Equally at home on the gaming table or the display shelf

This Dimetrodon sculpt captures the creature at its most alert — low to the ground, jaws slightly parted, weight shifted forward as though it has just locked onto something in the undergrowth ahead. The pose reads as mid-stalk rather than full charge, giving it a watchful, predatory energy that suits both an ambush encounter and a display piece.

The detail across the sculpt is exceptional. The body is covered in richly textured overlapping scales, shifting in size from the coarser plates along the flanks to finer pebbled scales on the belly and limbs. The iconic dorsal sail fans out dramatically from the spine — each individual fin ray sculpted with surface striations and ragged, spined tips — giving the creature genuine height and visual presence on the table. The clawed feet are spread wide across the large 51mm oval base, grounding the piece with a sense of physical weight.

As a Large creature, this Dimetrodon occupies its space convincingly. The open-jawed expression reveals rows of teeth, and the hooded eyes give the face a cold, reptilian intelligence. Whether you run it as a prehistoric beast in a lost-world setting, a dinosaur-era encounter in a jungle ruin, or an ancient predator conjured by a druid patron, the sculpt carries genuine threat without tipping into fantasy excess.

Adventurers who would get the most from this miniature include:

  • DMs running wilderness or jungle encounters with prehistoric fauna
  • Adventurers who want a visually arresting Large creature to anchor an encounter map
  • Druid players seeking a Wildshape form with a dramatic silhouette
  • Painters who want a large canvas with strong texture variety — scales, sail membrane, and claws all reward different techniques
  • Display collectors who appreciate prehistoric creature sculpts done with anatomical care

Encounter Hook: The party has been tracking a missing ranger into the Thornmere Basin — a region of dense jungle canopy and shallow warm pools. As they follow boot prints to the edge of a sun-drenched clearing, the prints stop abruptly. A long drag mark continues into the reeds. Then the sail rises from the tall grass ahead, and the Dimetrodon turns its cold gaze toward them, something clutched loosely in its jaws.
