Description

The letters on the desk are still warm — whoever sat here left in a hurry, and the telescope is still trained on something in the night sky.

  • ✔ Resin terrain piece, printed fresh to order in the UK
  • ✔ Supplied unpainted — primes and paints easily
  • ✔ Compatible with standard 28mm–32mm miniature scales
  • ✔ Works on the gaming table and as part of a display diorama

This is no ordinary writing desk. Sculpted with the kind of obsessive detail that rewards close inspection, this scholar's bureau is laden with story: a mounted telescope on a geared armature dominates one end, surrounded by loose scrolls, a decorative chain, and an intricate mechanical device. The opposite side features a raised hutch shelf bearing glass-domed flasks and thick leather-bound tomes, with locked chests tucked into the drawers below. A woven cloth runner drapes across the surface, and padlocked drawers on both pedestals hint at secrets that aren't meant to be found.

Whether it belongs to an arcane investigator, a court astronomer, a thieves' guild record-keeper, or a wizard who definitely didn't leave under suspicious circumstances, this piece transforms any indoor encounter into something your players will actually look at and ask about. Equally at home in a library, a noble's study, an observatory tower, or a shadowy guild hall, it works beautifully both as functional scatter terrain on your battle map and as a display centrepiece in a diorama or cabinet.

Perfect for adventurers who:

  • Need richly detailed scatter terrain for indoor TTRPG encounters
  • Are building a wizard's tower, scholar's study, or thieves' guild scene
  • Want a display-worthy terrain piece that doubles as a painting project
  • Are stocking a dungeon room or noble estate with believable props

Encounter Hook:
The party has broken into the Royal Astronomer's private study — documents scattered across the desk suggest he's been tracking something moving between the stars, something that shouldn't be there. The locked drawers are bound with a glyph of warding, and the telescope is still pointed directly at the ceiling, not the sky. Roll for Arcana.

Scaled to 32mm and suited for priming and painting straight away, or use as-is for an unpainted aesthetic. The piece arrives ready for your table. Any minor marks from the printing process can be tidied up easily before you begin painting.
