Description

They say Alhamazad has studied the shifting sands for three centuries, and that the orb atop his staff holds a storm that has never once been released.

  • ✔ 32mm scale resin miniature, printed fresh to order in the UK
  • ✔ Supplied unpainted and ready to prime
  • ✔ Compatible with D&D, Pathfinder, and all tabletop RPGs
  • ✔ Equally at home on the gaming table or the display shelf

Alhamazad cuts a striking figure — an ancient archmage robed in heavy, layered cloth, wound sash at the waist, and sandalled feet that have walked sun-bleached roads no map has charted. A braided beard falls in thick cords across his chest, and his turbaned head is held with the quiet authority of someone who does not raise his voice because he does not need to. Both hands grip a gnarled wooden staff crowned with a smooth orb — whether it channels arcane force, divination, or something older still is left entirely to your imagination and your campaign notes.

His expression is the real detail worth talking about: a hard, weathered scowl that reads equally as ancient sage, morally ambiguous quest-giver, or outright antagonist depending on how you play him. Monster Atlas have captured something rare here — genuine character weight in a miniature-scale face. The deep-set eyes and furrowed brow reward careful brushwork, and the flowing robes offer broad surfaces for glazing and layered drybrush techniques across linen and cream tones.

Alhamazad works equally well as a centrepiece NPC, a rival archmage the party must either outwit or outrun, or as a display piece celebrating the archetype of the desert scholar-wizard. He'll find a home in any desert city campaign, an Amnian guild of sorcerers, a Calimshan intrigue arc, or any setting that draws on arid-lands magic traditions.

  • Adventurers building out a desert city or trade-route campaign
  • DMs who want a morally layered archmage NPC with genuine visual presence
  • Wizard or Sorcerer players looking for a character mini with authority and age
  • Painters drawn to flowing cloth, braided hair, and detailed facial expression
  • Collectors of desert-themed or Eastern-inspired fantasy miniatures

Encounter Hook: The party arrives at the desert city of Keth Salaar seeking the scholar known as Alhamazad — only to find his tower sealed, his apprentices scattered, and a warrant pinned to the gate signed by the city's own Grand Vizier. Whatever secret the old archmage uncovered in the deep dunes, someone very powerful wants it buried — and him with it.
